I use to be a detector dealer..I thought the prices on detectors were way too high...I to sell a new Ace 250 for 170.00 but the factory said no.. you have to advertise and sell if for 212.00 or we will pull your dealership and you won't be a dealer anymore. I wanted to sell a new f-4 for $299.00 ...but the factory said no you have to advertise and sell it for $425.00 or we will pull your dealership and you won't be a dealer and the same for selling a new f-75 for 699.00 anymore..Even at these low prices I still could have made a good profit The mark-up on ALL metal detectors is CRAZY..anywhere between 60%-85% percent mark-up IF NOT MORE in some cases.. Most busineses do very well with a 28 to 30% mark-up..Hell the detector manufactuers even have paid "Detector Police" that do nothing but surf the internet looking for dealers that are selling detectors at too low of a price and report back to the factory...Why do you think they give away "free goodies".. Because for the mark-ups that the detector factories and dealers operate at they can afford to give away "free goodies" The metal detector manufactuers tell their dealers at what overly inflated price to sell their detectors at and guess what..The dealers comply with what the factory says or risk losing their dealership too. If Metal Detector factories and dealers were selling oil we would be paying over $20.00 a gallon for gas. I believe the detector companies violate the Sherman Antitrust laws. ANYBODY that buys a new metal detector nowdays is literally getting taken to the cleaners for price thanks to ALL the metal detector manufactuers and their "MAP" (min advertised price) pricing policies..
